The Abode of the Message is a spiritual community founded in 1975 by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan. His father, Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat

Khan brought a Sufi Message of unity from the east in 1910, which was intended to help “unite humanity in brotherhood and wisdom.” The Abode is the primary residential community of the Sufi Order International. The Abode is dedicated to honoring the unity, truth and wisdom of all the world’s religious traditions.

Located in historic Shaker buildings on over 400 acres of natural beauty, the Abode is a Residential Spiritual Community, conference and retreat center, as well as a school of esoteric study. We offer a wide variety of workshops, programs, personal and group retreats, weekly classes, worship services, daily prayers and evenings of music, poetry and dance, providing vast opportunities for the spiritual seeker to explore, deepen and unfold on the spiritual path.
